Scholars' Conference on "Current Mega Trends in Information Society" to take place from 11-12 November 2004 in Tampere

Conference Themes – Call for Papers

The fourth EUROPRIX Conference will deal with five current mega trends in the information society developments as stated by the EC and Commissioner Erkki Liikanen. Papers are invited to investigate, document, analyse, contrast or question the mega trends. In addition an open paper competition is held for young scholars and scientists. The mega trends are and topics addressed in papers might include:

Broadband breaks through:

- Analysing the BB value chain and market development
- The economics of BB content production and value-add services provision
- BB business models and corporate strategies
- BB and different user sectors in multimedia

Mobile Data Services take the market:

- National and regional differences in market developments
- Mobile multimedia in corporate, education and learning environments
- New content formats and innovative services
- Mobile as entertainment platform Nr. 1
- Studies of use and usability

Convergence comes to the market places:

- Cross media publishing strategies
- Internet TV and Digital terrestrial
- Mobile plus TV multimedia content s and business cases
- Multi-channel content delivery

e-Solutions need non tech champions:

- E-regional campaigns and action programs
- Leadership roles and best practice in promoter strategies
- Advanced application deployments in business, governments and other environments
- New frameworks for multimedia production

The battle over spam, reaching for quality contents

- Spam legislations in international comparison
- Spam and mobile multimedia
- New tools for spam control and filtration

The conference is a two-day-meeting, energetically moderated for high levels of discussion and debate and taking place during the MindTrek Week in Tampere, Finland.

Researchers, scholars, regulators, policy makers as well as multimedia practitioners and analysts are invited to submit abstracts. 

In a special competition for young researchers award for best paper will be held with the prize money and distinction offered by leading European Research Organisations. The Research Studios Austria will offer € 500 for the best paper in applications research. Other awards might be offered for the best innovation paper and the best e-solution leadership paper.
