Essential Outcome and Findings

Interactive Storytelling and Film Making:

The line between film and game: play with a film, watch a game or do both, the challenge is to persuade users, study the habits

Use the proved qualities of a film:

         Quality storytelling

         Collaborative medium

         Immersive experiences

         Established metaphors

         High-end production

The future film contains:

         dynamically generated visuals

         3D interactive sound

         conventions for user interaction

         network connectivity

         game-play

         performance

the essential difference will be the delivery

         delivery to different devices

         device-independent publishing

         more technology

The Multi-lingual and Multi-channel approach

Immersion and interactivity for those who want it (and can afford it)

Traditional linear format for everyone else

The future film will still provide one concept, one story, will have one author and comes through one delivery system but will combine many technologies and allows a lot of representations.

Lessons learnt:

Scripted narrative choice is not compelling
