Key Presentations

  • A comprehensive description of the frame of the EC supported project ACTeN (Anticipating Technology Needs) was presented by Mr. Gheorghe Samoila, Head of the Multimedia Department of Institute for Computers.

  • The second presentation reviews the apparition and development of interactive multimedia field, its available technical facilities and their accessible costs determining the new digital media coming out and spreading. Technological and cultural aspects of the field are to be presented and discussed during the workshop.

  • IST Projects
  • The initiative of the ICNM and European Academy for Digital Media, the World Summit of Information Society Award, part of the United Nations' World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).

  • CULTINFORM – Coordinated Actions for Creation and Dissemination of a Platform, Dedicated to Formation, Development and Dissemination of the IT Culture in a Wider Segment of Population.,

  • Essential Outcome and Findings

  • The event was attended by an important number of participants of various profiles: producers, designers, developers, scholars, local and foreign students of technical and artistic profile.

  • Tools, techniques and development environments were presented in a comprehensive manner, with adequate applications, directed to persons and institutions interested in the field.

  • The trends of a field with a dynamic presence were discussed in a competent manner.

  • An important issue was considered the e-content, the real object of the practical utility of the multimedia technologies. The speakers focused on the awareness of the contents owners, specially cultural contents owners, is essential to Information Society development.

  • Workshop’s proposers hopes it put the basis to definition and development of a national level technical and professional context able to help the integration of the context and IT tools, offering also the possibility to accumulate necessary knowledge and abilities to use this context.

  • The present event is also a contibution to define and consolidate a multimedia products and services market, base on quality contents acces.

  • Assertions of the speakers were supported by international and local market examples.

  • The sensitive issue of social aspects of the fast growing Information Society, determined by the its recent and fast development.

    Producers Needs:

    Information on technologies and tools available is necessary. Participants information is more accessible and convincing if accompanied by examples and demonstrations.

    Information on tools, products, services and providers in a new environment with large implications in various fields.

    Other comments

    The aim of this Scouting Workshop organized in the frame of ACTeN project was to provoke an open discussion about the subject and to illustrate using the best examples offered by the digital media technologies and the e-Content production the impact of new technologies on the Romanian culture.

    Multimedia producers, designers, students from technical and art universities took active part at the works of this workshop.

    The organizers of this workshop aimed to contribute to the establishment at the national level of a network able to integrate high quality content and new multimedia technologies, together with the expertise in order to use this content.
