Scholars' Conference: Reports

Scholars Conference in Tampere 2002:

The EUROPRIX Scholars Network Conference held in Tampere, Finland November 14th - 15th was a truly European event, gathering researchers, producers, policy makers and students from 19 European countries and Canada.
The conference used two long and intense days to analyse the market mechanisms and bottlenecks of European content industries, to see future trends in technologies and markets and suggest strategies for all players of European digital media.

The participants were impressed by the holistic approach and the warm, passionate atmosphere of the conference."For the first time I experienced what open society really is", praised one of the participants.

The conference was arranged by European Academy of Digital Media (EADiM) and MindTrek Association as a part of ACTeN - project. Scholars Conference was one of the highlights of the annual MindTrek Media Week. This year MindTrek had 7000 participants in 30 events dealing with information society and digital media issues.

ACTeN was also present at the Futuuri exhibition of MindTrek, where ACTeN shared a booth with EUROPRIX. ACTeN board member, president of EADiM board Dr. Prof. Peter A. Bruck gave a presentation titled"Europes Best in Multimedia" at the Adobe Multimedia Stage of the exhibition.

Scholars Conference participants took also part in MindTrek Awards Event, parties and several ACTeN and EADiM networking events 13. - 17.11.
