The ACTeN project aims at stimulating the development of a European e-content industry by monitoring the e-content market and facilitating the transfer of knowledge and experiences between industry and research.
For linking research and industry ACTeN disposes of four instruments:
· A monthly newsletter which allows for a continuous monitoring of market innovations and developments;
· Business round tables: ACTeN organises expert discussions in 18 business roundtables Europe-wide;
· Scouting workshops: ACTeN organises some 10 workshops demonstrating best practices throughout Europe;
· Scholars Network conferences: ACTeN organises 2 international conferences where future developments in the digital contents industry are discussed.
Besides operating ‘simply’ as a facilitator of the distribution of research and market information, ACTeN aims also at adding value to this information by supplying reports that provide an in-depth and integrated overview of a specific field in the e-content market. These reports are written by experts who have a deep understanding of the issues at stake. The reports will allow the reader to make more sense of the numerous business and technology developments which occur on an almost daily basis (cf. the ACTeN newsletter): the e-content reports will provide the readers with an overall view of the main issues of the specific field, a description of the major players in the market, a description of its trends and of the market’s future developments. Moreover, these reports should allow readers from funding agencies in the EC to identify possible funding opportunities in these fields.
