Business Roundtables

A Business Roundtable (BRT) is a strongly moderated workshop open to anyone interested in business aspects of today's multimedia content industry. BRTs present conclusions from the fast growing and sometimes turbulent multimedia business.

A Business Roundtable has two goals:

a. to discuss the best and most useful research results from the European Commission's research and development funding initiative "5th Framework Programme" in the area of multimedia technology and tools.
b. to get feedback on the needs for new development and research in technology and tools.

Participants

Invited as participants are two groups: First the producers and designers, multimedia experts and businesspeople from e-content industries (online providers, portals, new media agencies, online media from newspapers or broadcasters, mobile operators and telecoms, ad agencies, publishing houses, games developers, educational software developers, etc.). Secondly the "buyers-side" is represented by corporate executives from larger companies representing potential buyers of e-content products and services.

Upshots

Results are written up in business briefings in a defined format and are published electronically, most prominent on the project’s website (www.acten.net). They serve as feedback to the European Commission and the 6th Framework programme (2002-2006) with the possibility of directing the spending up to EUR 800 million over the next four years.
