9. Business Manifesto

The technologies of digital libraries will dominate the Net of the 21st century. There will be a huge number of repositories distributed over the world, where each small community maintains a collection of its own knowledge. Information infrastructure will become an essential part of the structure of everyday life, and digital libraries are already becoming an essential part of the information infrastructure.

It is necessary to create strategic partnership between private, public, national and international bodies involved in future digital library research. More emphasis and coordination should be paid on the broader national and international level because information of the digital library is by definition multinational, cultural and scientific heritage is essentially global.

The research in digital library field is interdisciplinary and brings together people from libraries, archives, museums, university and research organisations, electronic publishing industry, software, broadcasting and telecommunication industry.
