1. Executive summary

The “e-Content for Mobile Communications” Business Round Table applies for the manifestations organized within the ACTeN Project (Anticipating Content Technology Needs) - an international project at which ITC has its part among other 10 European partners, that aims to disseminate the results from the FP5 framework with the purpose of getting ready the FP6 programme, using the existent infrastructure of the EADIM and EUROPRIX networks. These results tend to constitute an element of stimulating the initiatives within the multimedia technology domain and the applications related to e-content for both software developers and business people.
The participants at the Business Round Table organized at ROMEXPO in Bucharest Romania by ITC discovered that there is a discrepancy between the development of technologies and tools within the field of mobile communication on one part, and the use of content delivered by the content providers, on the other part. The experts taking part in the discussion were:

Grigore Popescu, General Director, ITC
Gheorghe Samoila, Head of the Multimedia Department - ITC
Horea Murgu, Professor, Media University
Cătălin Niculescu, Director Infrastructures, Nokia Romania
Valentin Mănoiu, ITC, President of ARMI
Voicu Albu, Director, ARTelecom
Ioan Rusovici, Large Projects Manager, Ericsson.
Irina Oberlander from the Center for Cultural Memory, Horia Gligor from the Press (IDG), Carmen Stan from Tourism zone, Ani Rapeanu from Hospital emergency services, Radu Marian surgeon in The Emergency Hospital from Bucharest expressed the need for applications aimed to implement efective content into mobile technology in order to be useful to a larger segment of the population. The cross talks were succesfully moderated by Mr. Eugen Preotu, councellor of the Communication and Information Minister.
